Rolf Becker and his Orchestra
Rolf Becker’s musical talents reach far beyond conducting, he is an accomplished music producer, composer, arranger and musician who plays saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor and baritone), clarinet, flute and has toured the world. In Germany, his home country, Rolf played in various Radio Big Bands and started composing and arranging for several Publishing Houses, Labels (BMG Munich) and TV Channels. As musician and conductor he worked with some famous Artists as of example Sammy Davis Jr., Shirley Bassey or Gloria Gaynor. Rolf invented a new teaching technique for playing the Saxophone using a time management concept he calls “Time For Sax”. He’s published 6 instructional books with audio CD’s, which are the bestselling saxophone teaching books in German speaking countries of Europe. In August 2004 he moved to Shanghai where he started the first official Big Band in 2005. In 2007 he became the first Big Band Leader of the well known JZ All Star Big Band until he had to move back to Germany in 2009. Since 2011 he is back in Shanghai and provides different bands playing various music genres. Rolf became the Music Director of the Jin Xing Theatre. Besides various performances he continues to write soundtracks for well known Hollywood and European movie production companies. On April 15 Rolf and his Orchestra with the finest musicians of Shanghai & Beijing will be guest at the JZ Club to present a Show with well known tunes of the most famous Big Bands of the 30s and 40s, reinforced by award winning Canadian Lead Trumpet Player, Mr. Mike Herriott.
