Alto saxophonist Campbell Ryga is the recipient of three Juno Awards, a Grammy nomination and two Western Canadian Music Awards in the Jazz category, and in 2000 he was honored with Jazz Report Magazine’s award “Canada’s Alto Saxophonist of the Year”.

Campbell will introduce his music and discuss his experiences as a musician/educator and international touring artist, a rich career that has spanned 36 years. He will also discuss some of his own applied practice techniques, goals towards jazz improvisation and other concepts important to the developing jazz musician, the horn player in particular, such as transcription and ear training.
