Since she was seven years old Joey Lu has studied piano. She recently graduated from Shanghai Consevatory of Music with a bachelor degree. Her passion for music has driven her to develop her own style as a composer/singer/pianist. Joey’s musical incluences are a reflection of her personal diversity including jazz, pop, funk and contemporary music. the young and vibrant entertainer has been featured on shanghiajazzscnese and played many Shanghai venues.

2010
“The Color of Meditation” – Joey’s Quintet. Shanghai Oriental Art Centre.

“More than Jazz” – Appearance on this Shanghai English-lanugage TV program to discuss jazz history and perform with her own band. She has also spread the love of jazz in an interview on “Jazz Shanghai”, a Chinese radio show. You can see Joey weekly leading her own band at Jz Club.

2009
“Quintessence” (in title – “Songs for ex-boyfriends”) – a jazz vocal group featuring famous Shanghai vocalist Coco Zhao, Heidi Krenn, Zhang Le and Erica Lee.

“Jz Shanghai Music Festival 2009″ – warm-up show for distinguished Grammy award jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.
