With the project Shanghai Blue Sky (Shanghai Lantian)  Xu Fengxia introduces her personal perspective of her hometown.

If you know Shanghai you are aware of the fact that the blue sky is rarely seen there.Because of humidity and air pollution Shanghai Blue Sky mostly is an illusion- a landscapewithin a dream.Xu Fengxia was born and raised in Shanghai, a city that still owns a lot of myths. She was starting to sing Blues songs when old neighbourhoods and traditional lifestyle still were omnipresent- a time when local operas were performed at parks. Xu Fengxia wants to describe the special flavour of Shanghai. It is her dream to see the blue sky, a dream that is an important part of her life. The blue sky is not necessarily the real blue sky, it might also be something different…

Musically, you will listen to compositions that combine traditional elements withmore avant-garde elements, that combine Shanghai dialect with northern style singing which sounds like the American Blues. Jazz and Rock rhythms give it a special drive.

Shanghai Blue Sky is a melancholy reminder of the past and a powerful vision of the future, performed in the middle of today`s life.
